Oliver London is a self taught photographer. Recently he has been expanding his knowledge through further experimentation and by drawing on the experiences of other photographers, through inspiration and discussion.

His photographic explorations began in earnest in 2000 when he moved to London. With purposeful restriction he started out solely using disposable film cameras. His initial concern was to concentrate on composition and form of the magical qualities that can be achieved by film photography alone. Not to get bogged down in the technicalities of film photography. Like a cowboy ready to draw at a moments notice a black and white camera tightly holstered in one pocket and a colour in the other. Thousands of frames later, shooting his way through urban and rural landscapes he found himself exploring different film speeds, and using more technically demanding equipment. Gaining a love and appreciation for film grain in photographs - though the use of SLR and medium format cameras.

Before long he had found his areas of passion for different subjects. From landscapes that are sparse and expansive yet full of intrigue, to moments in time where people reveal their inner quirks.

For Oliver London the experience of taking a photograph is as important as the resulting image produced. Revealing as much about himself through his style, choices of subject and composition.
